Author Types
CUEBES Users
If your co-author has a CUEBES account:
- Search by name or username
- They'll be linked to their profile
- The publication appears on their profile
- They can edit their author entry
External Authors
For co-authors not on CUEBES:
- Enter their full name
- Add their affiliation
- Optionally add their email for notification
- They can claim authorship later if they join
Author Order
Drag and drop to reorder authors. Common conventions:
- First author - Primary contributor, did most of the work
- Last author - Senior author, lab head, supervisor (in some fields)
- Middle authors - Contributing authors
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is the contact point for the publication. They:
- Are marked with an envelope icon
- Handle correspondence about the paper
- Typically submitted the paper to the journal
To set a corresponding author:
- Edit the publication
- Go to the Authors section
- Check "Corresponding author" for the appropriate person
Author Affiliations
Each author can have their own affiliation:
- Institution name
- Department
- City, Country
This is important because authors may have different institutions.
Contribution Roles (CRediT)
You can specify each author's contribution using the CRediT taxonomy:
- Conceptualization
- Methodology
- Software
- Validation
- Formal Analysis
- Investigation
- Resources
