ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a unique identifier that distinguishes you from other researchers. Connecting your ORCID to CUEBES verifies your identity and can sync your publication data.
What is ORCID?
ORCID is a non-profit organization that provides unique identifiers for researchers. An ORCID iD:
- Distinguishes you from researchers with similar names
- Follows you throughout your career
- Is recognized by publishers, funders, and institutions worldwide
- Can be linked to your publications and grants
ORCID iDs look like: 0000-0002-1825-0097
Connecting Your ORCID
Step 1: Go to Profile Settings
Navigate to Research Profile Settings.
Step 2: Click "Connect ORCID"
In the External IDs section, click the "Connect ORCID" button.
Step 3: Authorize CUEBES
You'll be redirected to ORCID's website where you:
- Sign in to your ORCID account (or create one if needed)
- Review the permissions CUEBES is requesting
- Click "Authorize" to grant access
Step 4: Verification Complete
Once authorized, your ORCID iD will be displayed on your profile with a verified badge.
Permissions We Request
CUEBES requests the following ORCID permissions:
- Read your ORCID record - To display your verified ORCID iD
- Read limited-access data - To optionally import your publication list
We never:
- Modify your ORCID record
- Access your private data without permission
- Share your ORCID credentials

You can register for free at orcid.org/register. It takes about 30 seconds.
Disconnecting ORCID
To disconnect your ORCID:
- Go to Research Profile Settings
- Click "Disconnect" next to your ORCID iD
- Confirm the action
Troubleshooting
Authorization Failed
If authorization fails:
- Make sure you're signed in to the correct ORCID account
- Check that you clicked "Authorize" (not "Deny")
- Try again - sometimes there are temporary connection issues
Wrong ORCID Linked
If you accidentally linked the wrong ORCID:
- Disconnect the current ORCID
- Connect again with the correct account
