ORCID Integration

Connect and verify your ORCID iD for trusted researcher identification

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a unique identifier that distinguishes you from other researchers. Connecting your ORCID to CUEBES verifies your identity and can sync your publication data.

What is ORCID?

ORCID is a non-profit organization that provides unique identifiers for researchers. An ORCID iD:

  • Distinguishes you from researchers with similar names
  • Follows you throughout your career
  • Is recognized by publishers, funders, and institutions worldwide
  • Can be linked to your publications and grants

ORCID iDs look like: 0000-0002-1825-0097

Connecting Your ORCID

Step 1: Go to Profile Settings

Navigate to Research Profile Settings.

Step 2: Click "Connect ORCID"

In the External IDs section, click the "Connect ORCID" button.

Step 3: Authorize CUEBES

You'll be redirected to ORCID's website where you:

  1. Sign in to your ORCID account (or create one if needed)
  2. Review the permissions CUEBES is requesting
  3. Click "Authorize" to grant access

Step 4: Verification Complete

Once authorized, your ORCID iD will be displayed on your profile with a verified badge.

Permissions We Request

CUEBES requests the following ORCID permissions:

  • Read your ORCID record - To display your verified ORCID iD
  • Read limited-access data - To optionally import your publication list

We never:

  • Modify your ORCID record
  • Access your private data without permission
  • Share your ORCID credentials

Benefits of Verification

Increased Trust

Other researchers can verify you are who you claim to be.

Profile Completeness

ORCID verification contributes significantly to your profile completeness score.

Don't Have an ORCID?

You can register for free at orcid.org/register. It takes about 30 seconds.

Disconnecting ORCID

To disconnect your ORCID:

  1. Go to Research Profile Settings
  2. Click "Disconnect" next to your ORCID iD
  3. Confirm the action
Note: Disconnecting removes the verification badge but doesn't affect your ORCID account itself.

Troubleshooting

Authorization Failed

If authorization fails:

  • Make sure you're signed in to the correct ORCID account
  • Check that you clicked "Authorize" (not "Deny")
  • Try again - sometimes there are temporary connection issues

Wrong ORCID Linked

If you accidentally linked the wrong ORCID:

  1. Disconnect the current ORCID
  2. Connect again with the correct account
