Uploading Videos

Step-by-step guide to uploading and publishing your content

Ready to share your content? This guide covers everything you need to know about uploading videos to Wave, from file preparation to publishing.

Before You Upload

Make sure you have:

  • An approved creator account
  • A video file in MP4, WebM, or MOV format
  • A title and description ready

Upload Process

Step 1: Access the Upload Page

  1. Go to /wave/upload/
  2. Or click "Upload" from your creator dashboard

Step 2: Select Your Video

  1. Click "Choose File" or drag and drop your video
  2. Select whether this is a Video (long-form) or Vid (short-form)
  3. The upload will begin automatically
Tip: For files larger than 100 MB, Wave uses chunked uploading. This means if your connection drops, you can resume where you left off rather than starting over.

Step 3: Add Details

While your video uploads, fill in the metadata:

  • Title - A clear, descriptive title for your video
  • Description - Tell viewers what to expect
  • Category - Choose the most relevant category
  • Hashtags - Add relevant tags to help people find your content

Step 4: Set Thumbnail

You have two options:

  • Auto-generated - Wave will capture a frame from your video
  • Custom upload - Upload your own thumbnail image (recommended)

Thumbnail requirements:

  • 16:9 aspect ratio recommended
  • Maximum 5 MB file size
  • JPG or PNG format

Step 5: Privacy Settings

Choose who can see your video:

  • Public - Everyone can find and watch
  • Platform - Only logged-in CUEBES members
  • Connections - Only your connections
  • Private - Only you can see it

Step 6: Additional Settings

  • Allow comments - Enable or disable comments
  • Allow duets - Let others create response videos

Step 7: Publish

Click "Publish" to make your video live, or "Save as Draft" to finish later.

Troubleshooting

Upload Fails or Stalls

  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure your file is under the size limit
  • Try a different browser
  • For large files, the chunked upload should resume automatically

Video Won't Play After Upload

  • Give it a few moments - the video may still be processing
  • Ensure your file format is supported (MP4, WebM, MOV)
