You will take the lead in design, development, and testing, elevating software quality together with your team. With your technical leadership and drive to contribute to society, you help ensure safe and reliable digital infrastructure. You take responsibility naturally and understand the societal importance of the systems you help build. As a lead developer, you act as a hands-on mentor, guiding your team while helping junior and mid-level developers grow.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality, mission-critical software

• Gather and clarify requirements from various stakeholders

• Perform unit testing and document your software

• Review code and documentation

• Provide technical direction to the development team

• Safeguard the architecture and ensure consistency

• Report progress to the project manager, product owner, and/or agile team

• Coach and support junior and mid-level developers

What You Bring

• A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field

• At least 5 years of relevant Java experience and 2+ years as a lead developer (hands-on leadership)

• Familiarity with modern frameworks; the Spring framework and SQL hold no secrets for you

• Experience with GitLab, Maven, Jenkins, and SonarQube, or similar DevOps toolchains

• Knowledge of or experience with structured project work, preferably in an Agile environment

• Strong analytical skills: able to filter information and reduce complexity

• Self-driven in keeping your knowledge up-to-date through literature, online sources, and seminars

• Social, curious, and naturally good at connecting with others

• Structured, methodical, and able to steer towards deadlines

• Proficiency in Dutch, both spoken and written (required)
